My eremurus robustus - March 13th, 2007 at 07:57 AM
This bulb was planted by my grand-kids on Christmas day 2006. The small bulb in the first picture is a tulip bulb for comparison. The eremurus 'spider' is over 12" across.
This is what I spotted and photographed yesterday (looks like a small globe artichoke coming straight from the soil).
And this is what my nursery lady says it will look like in summer 2008. It will be about 10' tall with pink spiky inflorescences. It should get to 6' plus in summer 2007 but probably won't flower.
