I caught a glimpse of a cedar waxwing on my way back to work after lunch today. They are absolutely gorgeous!
I cant wait till they hang around this summer. They seem to nest in the mish mosh across from my house. There are lots of willow and all sorts of brambles as well as sycamore there, and old fruit trees from long forgotten orchards & gardens too.

Those are my most favoritest birds...

They look so soft!

YAAAAAY! My favorite Springtime bird. Starting around the first of MAY dozens of them fill the four mulberry trees in my tree for an entire month! Tehn, I don't see them again for an entire year. But for the month of May, I concentrate on the waxwings. They should be stripping the Holly trees right about..............NOW!!!

They are.
There were a bunch near my garage one spring sitting on the road eating something {?} A car went by and drove right over them. All got pretty wellout of the way but 1. He did aa bunch of summersaults and landed in the ditch. There is always water runnig in that. So I ran 50 yards in about 2 steps to get him out of the water, off the road, away from my outside killer cats. He was dazed. So he sat in my hand till he could see straight. I let him off my hand onto an apple tree branch. He sat there, turned and looked at me, then flew off.

I always love to hear stories like that...

but what I wouldn't do just to pet one once..
The colors of the feather's are so pretty
and just look like silk...

I touched one once. He was sitting on a branch by himself at eye level. He did not move as I approached. I reached out and brushed him with my finger and he sidled sluggishly out of the way. I think he may have been sick or near death, but he was QUITE smooth and soft.

I have only seen one cedar waxwing at my house and that was last spring. I will be on the lookout for them again this spring! They are a very pretty bird!
