i do somthing like that. i use pop bottles cut in half then put back together, and put in my little green house, wink

I cut off the bottom of my clear *Juicy Juice* containers, and plant things like cucumbers
*who really like to be directly planted into
the ground and not distrubed by transplanting..*
directly in to the garden last year...
and let the container's act as mini~greenhouse's..

And we had several cold days/nights and I kept the caps of the juice containers and covered them during the night and off during the day hours *it would cook the heck out of the seedling
just emerging if the sun comes in and builds up too much heat..

I think also you get the hang of it, on how to put the cap on or leave in heat once you've done it enough *or had accidents' that you learn from* and see how it goes..

I do the same for the greenhouse, learning the first year was really alot of man hours in it,
with thermometer's in it and checking temps, sun/clouds vs cold winds, etc.. and opening and closing the door as needed to either let hot air out or keep hot air in going into the night hours or clouds...

even with my little greenhouse, there was a learning curve. I don't worry to much about the heat until it gets up into the 60's. Mine runs about 20* warmer inside, the heater is set for 40*, so the only temp I have to worry about is the high one.

All in all I don't have to worry to much about, I check it once a day, sometimes every other day.

thats a great idea with the juicy fruit bottles, spring is nice here but we always get a few sneaky frost in may.

this is my first year so im shure i;ll do alot of ooops and o-no's right now i only got climatis seeds in there, its freezing outside, and my green house isnt heated, so i thought i'd give em alittle more protection. i'll have to keep my eyes on em when the weather warms up.
what is the best temp?

If you look in the other Greenhouse topic, you can see the little heater I use. I set it for about 40*. Also you can see the lamp timer I use for the humidifier, I have it set for 15 mins on and 15 mins off. It will run 24 hours and still have water in it.
