i'm seeing bunches of daisy all over the place.
i thought they were all summer bloomers.
does anyone know which variety blooms at this time of year?? i'm in zone 6 and the temps are getting pretty chilly now.
When you say "all over the place" do you mean on the sides of the road or in people's gardens? What color are they?
How about Montauk daisys? They are in bloom here now, in zone 6 also. I am growing (trying?!?) them, but the @#$% deer ate them down too many times this summer so I don't have a single bloom. Last summer they were really nice.
My Becky Shasta Daisies are in bloom and I'm in zone 6, too! What do the ones you've been seeing look like?
oh, sorry!!! i should have described what they look like since i can't get a picture!!
they're the basic white-petal type and have dark green foilage. the flower stalks seem to be about 12 inches or so tall and they gently flop over.
these don't seem to be weeds, they (mostly, anyway) are in spots where it looks like they were specifically planted (iow, they're in the flowerbeds).
they're really terrific!! a nice, and unexpected, splash of color at this time of year. i want to get some for my beds for next year!
well, i googled both montauk and becky shasta. i'm leaning towards becky shasta...i guess i'll have to make a few pitstops on the way to work tomorrow so i can get a better look at them!!
thanks!
well, i stopped along the way to work today - didn't actually get out of the car, tho...
one of the bunches seems to be the becky shasta...the others look a little different and i think they're the montauks.
GOTTA get some of these! they really do bring a nice bright spot to the gardens!!
