can you grow a willow tree from a cutting? and how do you take care of a cutting, because the last time i tried it ended up killing it within a week.

Autumn...I have just cut little branches from my willow trees and stuck them in the ground and they have grown.

But, I usually cut them, dip them in rooting hormone powder, then put them in potting soil. I never do anything special to take care of them...just keep them watered good.

How did YOU do it?

well i cut a really small branch off the tree (like 4 cm) and then i basically just put it in soil within the hour i cut it and watered it often. i dont think it grew because my dog knocked it over a couple times, so i never really knew if it was dead or not i just assumed.

Sounds like you did the right thing.
They don't show new growth right off...if there are any leaves or green on them when you cut and plant them it will usually turn brown...then in a little while you will see new little green leaves popping out. grinnnn
