My daughter came to visit today from Texas. She brought her Canon 6.1 Megapixel, 12X Optical zoom, point-and-shoot camera, and when she wasn't looking I snuck it out to try it. Here are two pictures I took from inside my house shooting through the glass of a bedroom window, at some House Finches on my platform feeder 30 feet away.

aww how cute I have a 10x zoom camera and can't wait to play ! I've been practicing but waiting for more birds to show up.

There is an orange-phase House Finch that is being seen more and more across the country. I think I may have seen one or two myself, so, yes! your orange bird IS a House Finch.

Joni, this wasn't my camera, my daughter brought it for me to try. She is a professional model in Texas and uses it in her work. There is NO way I could afford a camera like hers but wanted to see what it could do, and I am ASTONISHED!

Wow, those are awesome pictures, Thorny! I love the finches with the red on them, but sure would love to see some like Deborah has with the orange on their head. Of course, I can't complain since I still have my Goldfinches that brighten my day every time I see them.

My goodness Thorny, those shots are awesome!!! I'd love a camera like that as well!!! More beautiful and colorful birds.
