Another possibility is the annual Larkspur, a member of the Delphinium family. I have some this year that are that beautiful, deep blue (purple) color and they have the upper, fern like foliage.

How tall are the individual plants in question?

Larkspur is about 2 ft something..
Delphiniums can be about 4ft or higher

(Just a ball park figure)

And those colors are so pretty, I love'em..

How did you plant them, by seed?
Were they a mix of flowers???
Posted By: dodge Re: Is this flower Corinder???? - June 30th, 2006 at 01:34 PM
Weezie,

I would say 4 ft........I thought they was an Herb that I planted from seed.....
Yes definately was seed, which appeared this spring .......
It is intresting for sure.....Good thing I didnt nibble any..ha ha ....

Could it be something else? The soft leaves throw me off......Did you check the 2nd Photo/

Thanks for your intrest..

Dodge, check out the info for the annual Larkspur, Consolida Orientalis, at this link...
http://www.gardenersnet.com/flower/larkspur.htm

and here...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consolida

Mine get 3' - 5' tall and need support occasionally. Our hot weather really does a number on them but they are gorgeous. Prolific reseeders so there are always news ones each year. I love Delphinium but they can't take our temps in Okieland. smile

it is a larkspur or delphinium variety. your flower has the spur (spike at rear of flower) & the lark (part in front that looks like a roosting bird).

use your imagination like with clouds.

I just went outside in the dark and picked one,'

The rear spike is correct.........I never saw that before.....

My Larkspur are self-seeding. They're back every year. I always shake them well when I'm preparing the bed for winter. I think they look like Larkspur, also. Sue
