I got this plant as a cutting from a friend. I was told it was a Money Tree/Plant, but (after a year of nothing but sitting there) I have decided to look up information specific to this plant so I can make it grow. I have had it for a year, and it hasn't changed one bit. It now has roots, but hasn't done anything above the soil. If I knew what it was then maybe I can tailor my work to its specific needs and make it actually GROW! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

it doesn't look like any 'money tree' that i've ever seen...the leaves on this one are much, much larger than what's on mine. and these leaves are shaped a bit differently too.

it almost looks like a rubber tree - the growth pattern of the leaves doesn't match tho.

could you do another pic so we can see what the stem looks like?

it could very well be a rubber tree...money trees are the ones that are braided, rite?

Schefflera?

I had a Rubber Plant before (It didn't like the winter here), and this doesn't seem like it. I don't think my camera is good enough to get a great shot of the stem, but it is smooth. Not barky like a rubber plant. Hope this helps, and thanks a TON and a half for your help!

The plant from which I got this was braided, which is what led me to believe a Money Tree, but I think deborah is right- i looked up schefflera's and it definitely looks like one. Do you think it could be a Giant Schefflera, although the leaves aren't shiny.

i was thinking giant schefflera. and the leaves look like they need cleaned. using a spray bottle with clear water and a soft cloth (or put it in the shower). then let it drain well. resume watering as needed.

yes, kenny, the money tree is often braided together...that technique can be used with a lot of tree-type plants.

i wanted to say schefflera and just wasn't sure about the growth pattern as they usually have more branches.

isn't there a way to do something to the trunk to cause more branches to form on scheffs??

Well the pot look's alittle big for the flower
Have u tryed another size pot.It Might do better
I would think They say never use to big of a pot some like to be root bound Just what i think
