When my daughter brought me a big tub of bulbed plants early this spring, & I thought they were all Daffodils. I moved them to a garden bed where the Daffodils bloomed & are long-gone now. Yesterday I noticed this:

We recently had the hedge clipped (as evidenced by the leaf mess among these plants), so I don't know if this flower stalk had been standing up but had gotten trampled, or not... I don't think it normally lays on the ground like this. Duh

A friend was recently telling me about a weird looking Lilly that she has, that sends up a tall shoot of flowers & look kind of goofy standing there all alone, before the leaves get going... & when the flower is gone, the leaves start growing & stay for a long time. She called it a "Naked Lady Lilly". Another friend told me that they're also called "Surprise Lilly". Is that what this is?

No it's not a naked lady. They are light pink and bloom in August, and are about 3 feet high on the stem.

Well, It's not August but these are pink & the stem is 3 feet tall. The leaves are almost identical to Dafodill leaves but are a bit "grassier" in texture.

(It's definitely NOT an Amaryllis.)

OK, so far we've identified what it ISN'T... Does ANYBODY know what it IS? [Linked Image]

Well I do not have a guess...But the surprise lily's I have are red and bloom mid summer and the leaves do lay down like that, but are a darker green with a stripe. It is very pretty though!!!

The plant I have in my current flower bed and have always called a surprise lily is about 4 to 6 inches high now and just the green "stalk" like leaves are visable, and are standing straight up now, but will droop some later on in the season--those will die and sometime this summer/fall up will pop a approximately 2 ft woody looking stalk-(no leaves then) with several pale pink lilly like flowers on the end. Am I calling my plant by the correct name?

It reminds me of a rain lily (Zephyranthes) possibly Zephyranthes macrosiphon.
