These 2 birds didn't seem to be camera shy today.
I was refilling the feeder, and they just waited nearby patiently.

Here's one of many black capped chickadees:

And a female downy woodpecker on the deck railing:

Good call on BOTH birds. We don't have the Black-Capped Chickadee in Tennessee except for some in the HIGH elevations of the Appalachian Mountains of EXTREME eastern Tennessee.

Downy Woodpeckers are ABUNDANT all over Tennessee. I have three that live in my yard.

We have The Carolina Chickadee over most of the state. They are smaller and more gracile than the Black-Capped. But are otherwise identical.

If it wasn't soooooooo cold out today, I would have stood out there and tried to coax the chickadee to eat out of my hand. I've mentioned before that we did that while skiing in Lake Tahoe many years ago, but never back here.

One of these days...

I can almost touch my Ruby-Crowned Kinglets and Mr.Mocky often lets me get within 12 inches of him.

My friend on the other side of Nashville has a Mockingbird that sits on her hand and eats apples out of it.
