While I was digging Saturday for my rosebeds, I dug up a boatload of daffodyl bulbs. I had like 6 flowers and probably 200 bulbs. They were in huge clumps, probably never been divided. Anyway, they all had roots already, and some had shoots that actually made it above ground a little. I filled my wheelbarrow up with dirt and stuck them in there and covered them with compost and a little water till I could get to them. So I'm trying to replant them, but I don't really know if they'll survive or how deep I should plant them. The ones with shoots, I'm trying to put in with the yellowish/whitish part below ground and the green part above??? I'm kinda flying by the seat of my pants here, and I don't have the first clue what I'm doing. Any advice?

They should survive. Plant with the dreen side up and as deep as 1 1/2 times the size of the bulb. They really should do ok for you so long as they did not get all dried out and it sounds like they didn't.

I dug some from abanoded property 2 yrs ago.I planted between 4-6 inches accept the ones outside of fence cause they we're deeper when dug.some of those now could use dividing.I dug enough that my yard smells good some mornings.

4-6 inches sounds good, daffodil bulds should be planted twice the size of their bulb. although ive never measured, just dug a hole and stuck en on the ground laugh they always did fine.

njoynit ive seen your yellow daffs in one of my books, cant remember what its called. but shure is pretty!

i got a new daffodil last night, its called a peruvian daffodil--ismene festalis its so cool lookin

I have had Peruvians for a couple of years now. They are sooo pretty when they bloom.
