I noticed this growing in my front flower bed a couple weeks ago. Is it English Ivy?

I don't think that's English Ivy Christina. It looks more like morning glory.

no, not english ivy.

it could be morning glory or it could be the 'fake' morning glory - which is actually an invasive weed. i believe it's called bindweed.

i see a tiny bud there at the bottom - get a pic of the flower when it blooms as that will make for easier id.

That's not english ivy or morning glory Christina, but I can't help with a positive ID. Sorry.

English Ivy Has a variegated, thicker waxier look and grows on a woody vine.

It very much resembles my Teardrop English Ivy I have as a house plant, but I just went and had another look at my house plant and you're right Thorny. My English Ivy has a woody vine.
I'll get another pic tomorrow..I haven't even looked at it since the day I took the pic. shocked Maybe that tiny bud has bloomed. Duh (BTW, I didn't even notice that bud until Joclyn pointed that out..thanks for that!).

Yes, before you lose control of it. It can be fairly invasive. Strange though, it's leaves are usually more arrow-shaped than the perfect heart shape of those. I guess EVERYTHING from Canada is weird, eh?

there are a couple of different things that are bindweed...there are other things that look similar and they aren't invasive...

i'll have to check my weed lists on my computer at home (i'm at work right now). hold off pulling it up. that flower doesn't quite look like it's from one of the invasive type vines...

k. it's not bindweed.

i'm pretty sure it's whitestar which is also called morning glory or pitted morning glory.

if i'm correct about what it is, you'll want to pull it as it's invasive.

Thanks Joclyn. Looks exactly like it! I'll get out there today at some point and pull it out.

That's a lot of English Ivy Thorny. I have Teardrop English Ivy and Helix English Ivy (like yours execpt my isn't variegated). Very nice!

That's not my ivy, Christina. I took it at the formal gardens of Centennial Park this week to show you what it looked like. My wife and I are going to plant some Soon.
