Are Bird of Paradise a deep rooting plant or a top rooter. I have a large planting area by my pool & I am not sure this plant can cause damage to the pool or even the wall next to it with its rooting system. Any help will be much appreciated.
Thank you!
Joel

The bird of paradise's [b.o.p.] roots are tuberous[rhizomes] just like the regular banana. It produce lots of "babies" [shoots, pups]. My b.o.p.'s are in plastic pots. If you just want to use it as a moveable decorative plant near your pool, you might want to consider planting it in a 22" or larger plastic pot.
