I bought some sweet basil seeds, but have never tried growing them from seeds before. I would like to grow them in pots--either terracotta or other kinds. Does anyone have any suggestions for growing strategies? Also, can I grow them inside?

I grew some last summer with no problems in a terracotta pot in just a standard supermarket compost. No problems. The only thing to remember is that basil loves the hot sun (and of course enough water). You don't post your location so

Yes basil grows very well inside if you have an east or south facing window. I have mine in an east facing window. Remember that Basil is an annual but that it can live for several years if you do not allow it to set seed. In another words pinch off the blooms. They will grow in any kind of pot. I've used large Margarine tubs, Plastic pots, and even wood bowls. They never seem to mind. I pinch mine back alot when it is young so I get a very bushy plant.
