I'm not laughing I also saw one of those kits after Xmas and almost bought it. I talked myself out of it though, as all I would be doing is growing something for the cats to have fun playing with in the window sill. We would like to see pictures though if you don't mind posting one.

I got one of those kits for christmas from my parents. I haven't planted it yet because I don't have a grow light, and being in seattle we don't get much sun.

I love Chia pets and the heads and all. They look pretty cool to me...

I ran out of seeds for mine. Do you know what an alternative seed would be to use to plant them? I could order some more, but I think they are right pricey...

Did you know they are looking into actually
eating the Chia sprouts..???..
They have been doing studies on them and they are supposed to be more nutrious that other things out there grown for nutrition..
****I should put a disclaimer on this...
There is no where's where it states on the box
*that I remember* that you can eat them,
so don't.. but when I hear about what they came
up with, I sure will post it*

And I think it's fantastic about your herb garden..
Anything grown can not be bad...and if you get some enjoyment out of it, that's all that counts.. thumbup

Lorena knows a couple of sites that have articles about the chia seeds and the sprouts that grow from them. They are edible. We were discussing a trade and so I had to ask all about them. I'm a curious little cat myself. Anyway I think the chia animals and heads are cute too. I just have a tendency to put everything in big pots because I hate to transplant. Just call me chicken.

They had an article in our local newspaper this week about Chia's! It gave the history and everything - seems it started about 200 years ago!

I'd love to grow a kitty one if I could find one!

I had no idea what you were talking about (as from the UK) but did a quick Google, and found this (from chia.com)

http://wonderfulbuys.com/Search_Result.asp?QUERY=Chia+pet

If you must have them, guess this is one place to start :-)
