Ok, so my Nanny used to have a plant like this and I just can't remember the name of it. I rescued this one from the clearance table at a green house. It took me about 2 weeks to repot it. The leaves look burnt. What is the name of this plant and how do I take care of it? It didn't like the full sun that it was in and where I have it hanging now (just put it there tonight) it will get light, but not directly. The stems are growing new leaves, so it can't be all that unhappy, can it?

I don't know. I looked up a picture of it, and the site said that pothos can climb....I don't know if this thing would climb. Everywhere I've seen it, its just drapped. I know its a verigated form of something...but that's all.

I'm pretty sure its a pothos just like mine ^.^ i still have mine in my webshots somewhere in there. probably in the september 2004 one. But ya, see those lil random brown nubs sticking out all over the vines around the nodes? If you have those up against a rough surface like wood, or rocks, they'll stick to it, and eventually climb up it ^.^ Philodendrons, ivy, and a few other vining plants do that too ~Phoebe

Yes, it is Pothos 'devils ivy'. They will climb if given a support. Otherwise they hang. I let pothos & arrowhead vines 'Syngonium podophyllum' climb across the top of my bar and hang down. pothos care climber draper

so...it should be ok where I have it? I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on it. There aren't very many places for me to put a plant that is as big as this one....the pot is quite large.

Well, i have mine located in a dark corner and its vines climb all over the window in my house and across the cable lines and all over the place. Its starting to climb across the ceiling too lol. They like lotsa light, but according to the one sitting next to me, they can live off the light from my computer monitor as well ^.^

We have pothos (indoors). Sometimes they take a 'holiday' and do nothing, but they can come back and surprise you. Just when you think they aren't actively growing, you see the vibrant greens, new shoots and it renews your faith in hanging house plants. You can mist them to help keep their leaves clean and shiny.

Jenn, I agree that its pothos...I like the color, wish mine were that color. I think the brown spot may be because it got too cold at some point??? Was it outside when you bought it?? It does much better rootbound...

And yes, of course they can climb - if you give them places to latch onto they'll walk right around the room.
Jeff did that with ours, then cut it all back when it looked too sparse.
We've been keeping pothos since 88.
