Hi everyone.....Could someone tell me why some Sugar Maples are turning orange and some turning yellow this season? I thought the same type of tree would have the same fall color.....
Thanks for the help!

Karen,
Yeah, that is weird!!
My neighbor sends waxed leaves
to her sister in Florida,
so she can remember what the colored
leaves look like. She takes them and
puts them on her windows.
I thought it was a neat idea!!!

Greg,
That's pretty ironic, mine too!!
I didn't have mine for 3 1/2 days,
and it was torture!!!!
I told my husband we have to get
another computer on line, so if
mine goes again, I have a back up!!!
Mine was supposed to be overhauled this weekend, but his had a temporary meltdown lastnight and mine got a reprieve for being taken apart.
My husband would like to throw the computers
out the window on more than one or two occasions.

Pretty ironic on the leaves too,
That people from Ill., N.Y., and Calif.
were all talking about leaves and their colors!!!
Of course "The Leaf Peepers" time of year
was always very busy when I worked in the
restaurant business, so many would go out for
the Sunday drive and go out and look at the trees.
It was always disappointing when the cold winds and rain would come in and take them all away.
But we know they'll be back!!! wavey

Hi...Im Back! smile

Our sugar maple in our front yard produced a LARGE abundance of seeds this year.
The seeds are starting to ripen and our tree is starting to change color already.
The foliage canopy, especially the crown was missing about 1/2 of its foliage.
We, in Northern IL, had a very unusual summer with hot and dry conditions..
Could this, combined with all the seed production, be the reason of the premature leaf color change and less foliage overall?
This is a 30+ year old tree and had never done this before and we would hate to lose it. eek
