Last night I was buzzed by a hummingbird. I was not expecting them quite this early so I ran into the house and put out the feeder with water in it and immediately went to work making nectar for them. I did not notice any visitors last night but I did have them all day today.

Bought a 2nd feeder and put that out as well.

Here is the only pic I was able to get tonight. Those babies are FAST!!!

Triss you have an adult male Rufous Hummingbird. I enhanced the picture a bit so you can see the colors and markings a little bit better.

I forgot to add that part. I did know the type Thorny, but thanks for putting that up there. For the most part, all we get are the Rufus. They are beautiful to look at especially in the sun when their necks light up in deep glowing red. Love them!

I saw my first hummer yesterday thumbup clp . I was working on the west side of my property and saw him flickering around the "weed flowers." Been having to help my daughter move this weekend but WILL get my feeders out this afternoon! No telling how long they've been here and are probably wondering what's up with me--why my feeders aren't out already laugh

I put up a feeder a little earlier today. I don't want them to pass me by...

Triss, those little hummers seem to be faster than the speed of light....

Their wings beat at a rate of 60 beats per SECOND!!!! That's what makes the "Humming" sound you can sometimes hear. They make a high-pitched chirping, twitter with their mouths.

You're right Jiffy--get your feeders out! I got mine out as soon as I saw the first hummer and I already have a bunch showing up.

Walmart should have a smaller one that works GREAT for $2.48. I think Dollar General should have some, too. OH! You might give Dollar tree a try also.
