Ok, got a mystery plant to share. I have noticed this on the side of the road about a mile from here. I have been very curious as to what it is. Any ideas out there? My father-in-law says it looks like a locust tree, but the flowers are not white like his.

And this is what the stem/branch looks like that it is growing on:

I have a cutting and have been trying to "root" it.

They are gorgeous! grinnnn What you have is a Robinia hispida (Fuzzy locust) They don't get very big but they do spread by runners.

Thank you, Donna! That's it! This was the first chance I had to get a pic of it and it was driving me crazy trying to find out what it was.

Those that I have been looking at look like a "clumps" of small trees. Now I am not sure if they are bushes or trees. I will have to have my cowboy take a picture of them all together to see if we can figure it out. grinnnn

I think my cutting bit the dust. I think I will try another one, though, when we drive down to take another picture of them. wink

Thanks for your input, my gardening friend, Mike.
