Okay, so I'm not the best at ID'ing a lot of plants...and a lot of seeds I started by just throwing them in and not marking what they were....

So are these things I started on purpose, or some kind of weed????

This first one is popping up all over the yard, but I don't recall seeing them in previous years.

The second one here is starting to bud.....

So do I have a lot of weeds and bad stuff???? laugh

Loz...whatever those top 2 are, I pull them up constantly.

The one in the top picture...I've had a lot of that in my middle garden this spring for some reason. I have no idea what it is... nutz

The first picture looks like a tree seedling. I don't know the other 2.

See my problem is I throw a bunch of seeds in a planter....and don't label them, and then when weird weeds pop up then I don't know if it's a weed or something I planted. :p

I'm going to leave them all there for a while. I'm curious to see what kind of flower the 2nd and 3rd ones are putting out.

I figured the first one was some kind of tree seedling because it's sort of woody. I just don't know what it is, it doesn't look like anything growing around here....then again I feed the birds near where they are popping up and I guess they could be from some seed they carried into the yard.

Anyone else have some ideas?

Loz, the first one looks like a tree sapling as you suspected. Do you have an oak tree around? I`ve pulled up several that look just like yours and there is always an acorn on the root. The squirrels, ya know! laugh laugh Sue

Loz-the first one is an oak tree. If you dig it up the acorn will still be attached. I'm pulling them out by the hundreds!!
The second one I'm not sure of but I pull them out of my veggie garden all the time!!

Shoot.....I don't have any oak trees right around me, but I do have one squirrel friend that likes to run up and down my fence....I bet that's where they came from. I just saw him yesterday as a matter of fact.

Thank you Donna, Sue, and Netty for the replies. thumbup

Well it would make sense if they weren't oak trees.....there aren't any around here.

So I wonder what it could be! I didn't pull any of them out, just yet!

I was searching all day yesterday for that flower,
but couldn't find it...

The one in the middle....
It will have a yellow flower and as the flower matures, the flowers turn into the seeds, but the seeds have little two little stickers on it to stick to peoples' clothing or dog's hair as they pass by, and that's how it travels...
And for the life of me, I can't find the name..
I'll keeps searching..

In the meantime, KEEP TAKIN' PICTURES..
especially as the flowers emerge.. sometimes
that's the kicker for us..

I still think that the first is an oak!

Netty, just have to copy and paste..
instead of a direct link that's all...

(I remember these plants growing up especially,
cause the dogs would come home with the brown seed/sticker things and you'd have to pull them off out of thier coats...)

I've still been lookin' for that other thing..
Can't place it but it looks firmilar...
