i have an old tree stump by my backdoor that stands about 3ft high and i was wondering if i could do a cimbing rose around it?Do they come in other colors besides red (because in the climbing roses red is all i see in stores)?
How many do i have to get or do they branch out alone? And how would i go about planting it? c i told ya i was clueless when it comes to plants!!!

yes you could do a climbing rose around it,but it may not bloom as well.climbers when the stems 'bend'in an arch form help the rose produce flowers.where if it grew stright it would produce few flowers.
Maybe try a container with plants that trail. My neighbor had a stump(proably close to your 3 ft)she sat one of her brugmansia pots on it and covered its soil in green wandering jew& portuluca it even trailed to ground and grew around base of trunk& she had a black eyed susan vine growing through the trunk.

Good luck with your stump project.

Hi Mrs B,

Yes climbing roses come in many colors. My dad had some red tea climbing roses on a trellis and they managed to bloom alot but it was an old plant. 15 years at least.
