Seeing the second photo,
I can't say with total certainty that those are Mallow
seedlings,
but I'd say that it is a fair possibility.
It all depends on what the person who traded them to you calls Mallow.
There are a LOT of
plants in the Mallow family, and leaf shapes vary greatly,
from rounded and scalloped, to "heart" shaped, to deeply cut and nearly skeletal.
There are types with fuzzy leaves and types with smooth leaves.
