Would anybody have an idea as to what tree it is that blooms with clusters of white flowers? They look a little like grape clusters (same size). They just finished flowering in VA about a week ago. they are every where! Too pretty! The trees range in size up to 60-70ft. Thank you in advance. Renee

I live in Virginia, too. My guess is the gorgeous black locust tree (Robina pseudoacacia). The clusters look like wisteria, only white. What do you think?

I have a photo of a Bristly Locust (Robinia hispida) ... same tree, different color flower. If the flower structure looks the same, I guess that Bess hit it on the nose, identifying it as a Black Locust!

Thanks for all the suggestions and I think a long lane with those flowering trees and vines would be like a little " bit of heaven". I think the tree must be a black locust, the flowers are the same. Thanks again.

They are but I've heard in the Southern states they can be a bit of a pest with the seedlings starting up and growing..... I've read that in a couple of places......
But I think with gorgeous flowers like that I'd mow alot or something.....
UP here I don't have to worry about that cause it's too cold up here but....
I've had my eye on the mimosa tree and a purple smoke bush!!! (The mimosa is suppose to be a problem maker too, but most things are now adays.......)

There's something called a whiter fringe tree that's pretty too!

Ah, I just love Mimosa trees. I've been trying to coax them into my garden for years, but the seedlings do not like to be moved. One of our neighbors has a gigantic old one in her back yard, and it has the most splendid umbrella shape. When it blooms it makes her yard look like a Japanese watercolor.
