at the grocery store. It was very pretty, and pink. I know I know this flower, but for the life of me, I can't come up with it's name! What is this very pretty pink flower in front?

I have been intriged with the shape of
the petals, and the really cool markings on
it for like everrrrrrrrrrrr!!
I don't know what it is exactly that has
drawn me to it... but it's just so pretty..

There's a purple one that's breath taking
and a yellow that's just full of sunshine...

Yeah, and I realized over the winter that the flowers aren't outdoors long enough to be fertilized, so you can't expect anything from their seeds.

That's a lovely bouquet you chose for yourself. I just might go out and get myself some flowers.

Jeff doesn't get them for me - not often, anyway - he hates it when they die.

Well, someday, I hope to have enough flowers to make my own fresh cut boquets, but for now, I have none. I couldn't resist the look & smell of those flowers, and I smell them when I walk thru the kitchen.. so fragrant! True, Steve doesn't buy me the flowers, I buy them for myself to enjoy. I'm always torn as to which ones to get.. I want them all..lol. But, this one was a nice one, not too pricey, and it smells wonderful!

Meg...Those flowers last a LONG time!
Leslie brought me a huge bouquet of flowers when I had my surgery (2 weeks ago today). All the other flowers in the bouquet have withered away...except those!
Look...just took this pic 5 minutes ago.

I've had the bouquet for two weeks...and it's untelling how long the flowers were cut before she bought them.

Hi,

Well, after Meg led me to knowing one of my favorite flowers in my yard, I just had to know how to get more! It seems, it is not that simple, but it can be done. Here in some info I found.

>Is it possible to propagate Alstroemeria from the bottom of stems from cut
>flower bouquets?

Sorry, no; you can propagate them only from seed or from portions of the
root with growing points. The flower stems are annual and will not produce
roots. The cutflower strains of Alstroemeria may be available as potted plants in
spring at some garden centers.

and

When I first attempted propagating alstroemeria some years ago
I tried using every kind of tissue offered; rhizome pieces, the tips
and those containing axillary buds, were the only ones that continued
growing and reproduced the entire plant.

and

May be a noxious weed or invasive
This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds
This plant is suitable for growing indoors
Average Water Needs; Water regularly; do not overwater. Handling plant may cause skin irritation or allergic reaction.

Here is 2 pages of them...beautiful!

more facts: http://www.alstros.com/FAQ.htm
has info on propagation more

I just might try this!
