I just got a bit of useable compost and upon potting up some things- I found tiny little centipede looking "worms" in it. What are they and how do I fix it?? I tried getting pics, but it was all blurry and you couldn't tell anything. I did get most of them out by putting a piece of potato in the pot and leaving it overnight, but want to know how to fix this problem....

Those are a common bug that would be
found near or in compost..
They are a good bug, they break down
dying material...
I can't say they are bad...

Are you using the compost for outside stuff?
or an indoor pot??

I don't use compost inside, just outside,
and for me, I don't mind them..
To my understanding, they aren't harmful...

Yeah, you pretty much have got to do
a good inspection of pots/containers'
when they come inside..
They usually do have a fair amount of
"outdoor~critters" on or in them.....

And usually if it's starting to be fall
or chilly time, they like to set up camp/residency in nice snuggly places, that
keep some wet water out and protection
against the winds and elements...
so, those are #1 spots to head to....

Yep, those are pill bugs or sow bugs...

Same calibar of animal..
You find them where there's decomposing
organic stuff...
They help with the process of breaking it down...

Again, I can't say they are a bad bug..

But that's why most times when they say to set
up a compost bin, to do so away from the house or garage or building..

If you have plants outside for long periods of time before bringing them inside for winter spray with insectisidal soap a day or two in advance .
