Hello,

On a holiday to India I took some seeds which afterwards I found out were Bauhinias. I succesfully germinated some. Then, most of them died all of a sudden and I was left with only one. Now this one is about to die too. I don't know what to do. A few days ago I thought the soil was way too dry so I soaked it in water and that's when it all started to get wrong. The fresh leaves started to die. It seemed as if the plant did not get enough water but all was fine before I had watered it. Can someone give me an explanation and/or solution for this problem?

Bauhinia seedlings are extremely susceptible to "damping off", a disease caused by fungi that kills the seedling. The seeds should be treated with a fungicide prior to sowing. Also, be sure to use a good sterile seed starting mix.
