They'll grow in just about any soil as long as it’s not waterlogged; slightly acidic or neutral soil is best. When you
plant them, it's helpful to put a handful of bonemeal in the planting hole.
tree peonies revel in climates with cold, snowy winters and are hardy to
zone 3. You can leave them out in the open without protection, but mulch any that are not deeply planted.
The biggest mistakes you can make when
growing peonies are over-watering and/or over-fertilizing -- they're tough little
plants and don’t need to be coddled.
