TK, I finally found chocolate mint ! At HD today !
Chocolate mint is so hard to find-I jumped when I saw it.
The York peppermint patty is my lifelong favorite candy bar-and I have always wanted a good stand of chocolate mint.
What fun !

Hi Deborah, my name is Shirley.
I have been dying to get some chocolate mint seeds! I haven't searched the net yet, but can't find it in garden stores.
What is HD and could you get an address for them so I could try to get some?!

Shirley, HD stands for Home Depot.
If you can't find any chocolate mint, I'll send you a sprig moist-wrapped, but first I need to know if sending a live plant is legal.
Does anybody know for sure?

Choclate mint does not breed true. Which is why you haven't found any seeds for it. I've never heard of any restrictions on any of the mints as far as shipping. But that doesn't mean there might not be some. You can check at the USPS website.

I had chocolate mint last year, which I bought from Home Depot. It did really well and smelled just like those Ande's mints. It smelled wonderful. Unfortunately I think the winter season killed it. I'm hoping that I will be able to find some more this year when Home Depot eventually puts out some more herbs or if not that then perhaps some seeds.

I doubt if it's dead CrescentScapes more likely, like all mints in winter, gone dormant. You are in zone 8b, the same generally as me and I have a pot of apple mint which I brought to the new house with me. It 'dies' off every winter but sprouts again end of March, beginning of April. The problem with mints is usually not keeping them alive but stopping them invading.

I hope you're right, webwise! My chocolate mint was planting in the ground with all of the other herbs, so hopefully it will come back later ^.^.

Has anyone ever thought of planting a "Chocolate Garden" ??? I keep seeing chocolate scented plants in seed mags and thought this would be a neat idea if they could co-exist together.

Ex- Chocolate cosmos, mint, etc. and mulch it all with cocoa shells!
