I live in Oklahoma. My house faces east. I tried to put a dwarf Japanese red maple out front by the house. It did not like it there. Too much sun burnt the leaves so I moved it on the North side and even though the wind is cold in winter, it is doing very well now. Now I need a tree to replace it!

My stipulations are no BEES! I hate bees. And something that is safe to plant near a house. My wall is probably 12 feet tall to the guttring. My porch sticks out and forms an L shaped garden that gets alot of sun until about 2 or 3 pm. Something pretty and not a Bradford Pear. Kinda tired of them b/c everyone has one already. I would include a pic, but broke my digital camera. Sure hope I can make a happy choice with all of your help! wavey

Prairiefire crabapple doesn't get real big, it's beautiful from spring to fall, and mine haven't attracted any bees.

How about a lilac, red stem dogwood? I do not see bees around that and grow a clematis through it for flowers the rest of the summer.
