This is the plant that i have in my office. I am terrible at gardening and I'm killing it! Someone told me this type of plant needs a lot of water, but now I'm wondering ifI over watered it. What can I do to fix it? Thanks for your help.

Also, I don't know what type of plant this is. Can someone tell me what it is?

Here's a picture of the roots. Do you think it needs to be repotted?

Is it a Maranta?

I think it may have wilted due to overwatering...

By the way, welcome to the forum...

On second glance, I don't think it is a prayer plant. I am sure someone else will be along soon to help you accurately identify it...

Thank you for your quick reply! I've drained the pot it's in... however it is still really moist. We'll see if that does the trick.

I agree with you... it doesn't look like the same pattern on the prayer plant so I'm not sure that's it.

That's it! It was right on the tip of my fingers after Maranta but it wouldn't quite get into my brain... laugh

I think I would repot it into some dry soil...

Thanks!

I didn't buy the plant.... the secretary who worked here before me had it and I guess I'm adopting it now!

I think she'll come home with me tonight so I can buy a new pot for her...
