Ok, I have some columbine, but the leaves are a bit different than this. Plus, my columbine are pretty much done for the year already. Now, I've noticed all these patches in my flowerbed, that look a bit like clover leaves, but somehow different. They are standing up more, and from almost a stem in the middle of it all. Then, there's these swirly looking buds starting to appear..

Columbine? or something else? Or just another weed that I've been pulling up all over the place..

Meg - looks like we share a lot of the same stuff. If you chew the little yellow flowers they taste kinda lemony sweety somethiny. No I generally dont just go around my yard tasting my flowers laugh My SIL told me to try it. Adventurous city girl that I am, I did. laugh ANYway, if ya try it, don't eat more than one or two - I found out afterwards that they can be toxic in large doses idea She must be tryin to get ridda me :p

Around here they call it sour grass. Adults always put the kids up to trying it. Most take 1 bite and spit. laugh laugh

I have these as well, all over the place with the cute little yellow flowers. Since they are heart-shaped, I was thinking about picking some nice leaves, and drying them in order to make a Valentine's day card for my sweety luv Might be a good project for little ones, if anyone has kids smile

I love it. My grandmother used to put some in with her greens and cook it like that! I have never ate the flowers but darn I love the leaves. Chew a few pucker and spit. lol

But now I think I will pick, wash, chew, pucker, and spit!

Yeah...gotta add that "wash" now that we are all grown up!

I bet dogs peed just as much back "then" as they do now!
I never thought about it back then, though!
