Can anyone identify this? You can see the purple underside in the bottom-left corner of the picture. My father-in-law said that his fingers became inflamed after touching the plant. I'd like to figure out what this is so we can decide whether to remove it. We live in the Ft. Lauderdale / Miami area. Thanks in advance.

Rhoeo spathacea, the following 2 links have some good info,
"Oyster Plant" or "Moses-in-a-Boat"
the first one tells more about the skin irritation your FIL experienced.

Those are just two common names for the same plant, thumbup Rhoeo spathacea,
a member of the Tradescantia family.

Hmmmmm . . . the idunnosia species, for me. Haven't a clue. Looks interestin' though.

Some kinda' lily, maybe? lily of the Idunnosia?
