Hey All!

I was just shopping at Wal-Mart today, and I saw a plant they called the Air Fern. I have heard of an Air plant (of which I REALLY would like to get in the future), but never of an Air 'Fern'. I'm not sure if it is real (the actual plant) or not, and I wanted to see if anyone has actually had one of these. It didn't seem to have any roots at all, and they said it never needed watering, or any special care. Just wondering. Thanks!

It's not a real fern, or even alive for that matter, it's skeletal remains of a small sea animal called Sertularia, some kind of coral, or related to one that's been dyed.
So it needs no care. I guess it's just something to green up a corner or a dark spot in a room where a real living plant wouldn't survive.

they DO 'green up' a corner or two!! they always look nice and healthy (thanks to the die job) and they never have to be watered...pretty good 'plant' to have!!

Just don't make the mistake a good friend of mine made--DON'T mist them! She thought she needed to mist hers to clean the dust off and ended up with green dye running all over the place laugh laugh shk

Ahh, bummer. It sounded like a cool plant, but I guess it was too good to be true. Oh well, I will keep up the search for a cool air plant in my area. Thanks all!

Haha, nice timing. I'm sorry about your friend, that doesn't sound like fun to clean up.

Even though they aren't living plants, they still looked kinda cool! I had one once attached to the fridge door that thrived laugh
