Thanks guys, no there are no spikes on the tree, the trunk is smooth, that's why I was wondering the honey locust, I heard they are spposed to have hugh thorns.

We had a tree like that when I was growing up, we just called it a locust tree. They make great firewood, just about as good as hedge. However, I doubt that is why you're asking! lol
