Can any one ID this cactus?? I have noticed it must bloom over night because the last two mornings I have seen it open but as afternoon approaches it closes back up the next morning it is open again [Linked Image]

I believe your right!!! I just looked it up and everything fits, the shape, the ring of buds at the top, and it blooms in spring/summer/ fall.

I have one that looks like yours angelblossom, and when I was trying to id it....Mammillaria is what I came up for mine also....mine looks to be the same size as yours, so I'm hoping mine might bloom soon, or at least I know what I have to look forward to.

I agree, it's a Mamm! Here's a place to wade through and find your species:

Angelblossom...I got half way through the list starting from the bottom, so far I have 3 possibilities for mine...So this may be alot harder then we would think to pin point the exact one..in your case the flowers will help you, but I noticed in some of the pictures that the flowers looked different for the same variety...that seems strange, but maybe it is caused by the growing conditions and care????

That's what I was thinking too Comfrey I'm about 1/2 down from the top of the list and so far I have written down 7 shk the flowers are the same in formation and smallness but the colors vary ever so slightly.. Pretty cool list tho HUH?? I have another cactus in my arrangement that has a bud I'll post a pic when it blooms Hopefully it will be easier to narrow down to the exact cactus laugh laugh laugh
