ok, first thing i need to know is if it is roasts or ground... that will make a big difference... then, i can give you hundreds of good ways to cook it... we love deer meat here and i can cook it where it tastes like beef instead of deer if you need that too...

it tastes like beef instead of deer That would be great since I've never "adjusted" to a gamey taste. I think it's roasts, cause it doesn't look ground up. By the way if you aren't working, you're very welcome to come! G~Mom

need any other ideas for snacks and such for the party That would be great Jenn! We will have about 25 people here for it and need a nice variety of munchies. We will have the deer meat,a turkey and a ham. I was thinking about having a variety of rolls for sandwiches if anybody wants them. There will be potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw and Mac n cheese(for the kids that won't eat the other stuff)but I still need other munchies to have around. We have bought Super Bowl tablecloths, napkins, plates, serving bowls and have a bunch of decorations we are using. This is going to be sooooo much fun! I sure would appreciate any ideas ya'll have for munchies and stuff! G~Mom

G~mom, Go into the Archives and check out some of them in there, I could have sworn we started something with Deer meat in there.... *we got a little carried away talking about Bambi hunting, but I think I posted one place to go to in there. And Tamara in Canada did some and so did Jiffy!!!!
Also, there was some recipes in there for munchies from the Super Bowl last year too...

Oh my goodness!! G-mom!! I am soooo sorry! I totally forgot about this thread this week. Lemme quick get the quickies that I pulled out of the recipe box for you. Here is a party mix for you...
1/2 C honey 1/4 C butter 4 C Chex cereal 2 C each of peanuts, raisins, pretzels and M&M's
Preheat over to 350. Mix cereal, peanuts, raisins and pretzels in large bowl. Microwave the butter about 1 minute or until melted. Stir in honey and pour over cereal mixture. Mix until coated. Spread on cookie sheet and bake 10 minutes. Spread heated mixture on wax paper until completely cooled. Pour into 2 quart mixing bowl and stir in M&M's. Makes about 12 cups. I usually double this recipe.....but make each batch separately.
Puppy Chow 2 sticks real butter 1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips 1 c. peanut butter 3 c. powdered sugar 1 reg. box Rice Chex cereal
Melt together first 3 ingredients and pour over Rice Chex into large bowl; stir until coated. Put powdered sugar in large paper grocery sack and add chocolate coated mix; shake until coated with powdered sugar.
We make that one for Thanksgiving every year....our family LOVES it!
We usually have a veggie tray at parties as well as a spinach dip with cut up bread. Here is the recipe for the spinach dip (you don't taste alot of the spinach, so even people who don't like spinach will probably like this).
8 oz cream cheese, softened 1 C sour cream 1/2 C mayo 1 envelope onion soup mix 1/4 tsp garlic powder 10 oz frozen chopped spinach
Mix all ingredients together except for spinach. Thaw, drain and squeeze spinach to make sure most of the moisture is out of it. Fold into the mixture. Refrigerate over night for best taste (but you really don't have to). We usually get a loaf of country bread and make a sort of bowl out of it and put the dip in that. Then we cut up what we took out of that loaf and serve that to be dipped in the dip as well as a loaf of rye that is cut up. This is usually a hit, so you might want to double the recipe.
Once again, I am sooo sorry that I didn't get this posted earlier. I'm sure you'll be going insane tomorrow trying to get things ready for your party and my late posting isn't going to help you any. If I come across something else that is fast and easy, I will be sure to post it for you. You can PM me and I'll give you my phone number if you want.

I sure did find it Weezie and I'm using your "wienie recipe". When I told Kareena I was mixing grape jelly and ketchup, you should have seen her face I think I'll use that too! Heres the way it stands right now...15-20 adults and 10-15 kids. I am planning a wide variety of things to appeal to everyones tastes. Deer...Jiffy gave me the "low down" on that Turkey Ham A variety of rolls to make sandwiches from the meats Weezies wieners Cajun Shrimp Dip w/crackers Picante dip w/tortilla chips Spinach dip w/breads Antipasta tray-cheese,pepperoni,olives and peppersVeggie tray Be-deviled eggs potato Salad Baked Beans Cole Slaw Pretzels-the soft kind that you bake Boiled Peanuts Kareena is going to be making pitchers of Margaritas and I'm also going to have a bottle of Jim Beam available. George is putting a T.V. in every room...including the BATHROOM and we have streamers, posters, all kinds of Super Bowl decorations for inside and out. This is gonna be TOO COOL! G~Mom

I'm not going to actually be "making" the boiled peanuts. The store where Kareenas boyfriend works sells them by the cup. They buy them already seasoned and whathaveyou in 5 lb bags. I'm just going to get one of those and simmer them in a crock pot all day. 5 lbs for $7...not a bad deal! G~Mom

It's 655 miles from London, Kentucky to Jacksonville, Florida. If I left here now I would be there by midnight. There's a brand new Avalanche sittin' out in the driveway... what to do.......? I know if I DO hit the interstate, I'm not comin' back 'til they catch me! I'm headin' cross-country after G-Mom's party!

What is Crab Boil???? Only the most important ingredient of any "cajun" seafood!!! Crab Boil There are several brands, and even Zatarain's makes several kinds, but the one on this page is the best. In the midwest it was sometimes hard to find, but in the Southeast it seems to be a staple. Sometimes if your local grocery doesn't carry it, they will order in a case--you only need to buy as much as you want. But you can also order it from the web site above. I've never heard it for Cajun Boiled Peanuts, but it sounds pretty good even though I don't usually like Boiled Peanuts. Might be worth a try. I'll definitely send the recipe to my sister who loves boiled peanuts!! Thanks for sharing. Ann

hi again no it dosnt make the peanuts taste like seafood lol. it just gives them a spicey hot tast to them.you serve them just as a snack food.after you cook them let them cool off then you can bag them up with some of the water from the pot to keep them moist.they go good with a cold beer or a nice bottel of wine.there very good.your friend in gardening.mike57
