my husband's and his co-workers' favorite:

1 box butter recipe cake mix (i prefer duncan hines, but others work)
1 large can pineapple chunks in own juice, drained, reserving the juice.
1 jar marachino cherries (at Christmas, i use the red and green ones)
1/2-3/4 stick butter or margarine
3/4 c. brown sugar (packed)
eggs and butter per cake mix directions

melt 1/2 - 3/4 stick butter in 9x13 baking pan. add 2 table spoons of pineapple juice from can of pineapple to melted butter, stir brown sugar into mix. arrange pineapples and cherries in mix and set aside.

mix cake mix per directions EXCEPT substitute the pineapple juice from the pineapples for any water called for. if there isn't enough pineapple juice, add cherry juice to make the difference.

scoop cake mix over top of cherries and pineapples and bake in a 350 oven for 5-7 minutes LONGER than the mix directions call for. Invert on a rectangular cake plate or cookie sheet.

my family likes it hot, but it is good until it is gone!! (2 hours in my house!
