Im a bit confused about Hydrangea for zone 8b.

Can i have it along side everythin else..or does it need specifc acidic qualities for color..when does it need to be planted? so on..

soil here in central Texas is heavy in clay and some plants dont do well..

Please shed some light on this for me if you can

Thanks
