HI all: After raising 3 kids I now have time to bring my green thumb out of the attic. I have collected some bird of paradise seeds and would like some help on how to start them. As in just stick in the dirt, soak in water 24 hrs, notch the hard hull and soak in water. I know it will take a long time to bloom but it's a matter of can I do it. I am sure we've all been ther a time or 2. Thanks, Mark

Hi mark I did mine half and half. Half soak 2 to 24 hours and half scarification. The directions also mentioned planting them furry side up. I've also read that the seeds need to be fresh. Harvested within 6 months if possible one year at the latest. Hope that helps.

Hi Mark wavey I plantet Strelizia last spring,I was told to remove the fuzzy stuff and put them in sand and in the dark.3 sprouted in a couple month, but some can take very long,my friend openend her bag a while a ago and found one little plant,so I think it could take up to a year to germinate. flw The plants of mine were growing so fast this year I had to cut them out of their pot in order to save the fleshy root.I really hope to see a flower in a couple years. wink
