Hi everyone!
I planted a bleeding heart bareroot some time ago & a couple of hostas & that very night it was eaten by something that apparently likes bareroots!! (probably a Fisher) I was wondering if anyone has any secrets to making them less palatable to critters? Maybe a container open at both ends??? Thanks (The hostas I can plant as plants, but some things only seem to come in bareroot.)

Hi Spider Lady,
Wish I could help but I sure do not know an answer to this, but I will bump this back up to the top for you! I have never had a problem with critters eating my bulbs or my bareroots (knock on wood). Probably because I live in a former desert (we'd still be one if it wasn't for sprinklers!).

Good luck.

Women and cats will do as they please. Men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.

Hi BF...
A Fisher is a weezil-type of critter--kind of cute...except when they're digging into stuff which isn't often. They have brown fur & sharp claws.
Where in Northern County NJ are you from? I lived most of my life in Ocean County. I sure miss some of the things down there. Our daughter still lives in Waretown. kit
