I recently found 5 cloves of garlic that had sprouted in my compost bin. I rescued them and placed them in pots of their own. They are still very young. Is there anything special that I need to do for them? Does anyone have any tips on when and how to harvest? Can I replant after harvesting? I want to maintain a constant supply of garlic (its a staple in my household's meals). Any tips will be greatly appreciated. Thx.

Hi there,

two weeks before harvest we used to bend over the leaves.

literally the whole plant, bend it over so the top of the bulb is exposed to the sun.
think it matures the skin.

the plant dries and you sorta use the plant as rope and tie the garlic together like a reath.

when planting more garlic from the first crop,
pick the best looking bulbs and use the 3 biggest cloves from each bulb for planting and eat the rest.

hope this helps wavey

Ben
