I got a mango seed to sprout a little spiral thing and I am not sure if it is a root or a top part. How do you plant them? Thanks, Laurie

Hi Laurie,

Welcome to The Gardener's Forum.

The mango seed looks like a taco shell. One side is rounded and the other side flat and sharp. How did you grow the sprout? In water? If so, wait until there are 6 leaves to ensure good root development before you transplant to a moist soil. That spiral thing is the beginning of a sprout. plant the seed with the rounded side down and the flat side with the sprout up.
