Hi Deb how are you this morning. Could you maybe tell me how much sun and if it is morning or afternoon sun that the garden gets in that area?

I would probably go for a vine of some type for the pole and maybe some of the taller variety of hostas near the back of the pond area with some marigolds in the front or possible violets. It depends a lot on your favorite colors/flowers too what you plant there. That's a really good looking coleus you have in your photo album. I guess you never have to worry about temps below 50 degrees F giving it a hard time.
