I'm wondering whether anyone has ideas for vegetables or herbs that do well in shade? I have one small section of my garden that has a locust tree overhanging it. The soil there is nice and rich, but the tomatoes and basil I planted there this year aren't growing very quickly. I put in a few bush beans and they are doing pretty well. I'm already wondering what I should plant in that spot next year. I have a small home garden so I hate to waste any space if it is useable. Any ideas?

Lettuce is one that might grow in your shady spot. Radishes might be another option. Good luck with your garden.
