My zucchini plant is overrunning my garden. Lots of leaves, not much fruit though. My question is, can I trim some of the leaf stalks without harming the plant?

Yes you Can,Trim the lower/older leaves, and I would go with a fertilizer of your choice with the Phosphorous a little higher...suggestions would depend on your choice, organic or non-organic, as long as the 'P'(n-p-k) is prominent.

My squash plant wouldn't produce anything, and i trimed it back, it put off new leaves and started producing again.

Thanks for the replies, I have some Miricle Grow left from fertilizing the flowers so I used that. It does seem to be producing more now. Saw a bunch of small squash starting. Just the plant is getting so big and is covering my cucumber. At least I know now that I can trim back a few leaves and it won't kill the plant. Weather has been so wacky, hot then cold, that I think the poor plants don't know what season it really is.
