I have 3 holiday cacti in 2 pots that I placed in the bathroom that doesn't have a window to force blooming about 1.5 months ago. (I know, I was a bit late).

After this length of time, only 1 bud is starting. Does turning on the light in the room disrupt the blooming process? Will I still get buds?

I transplanted 2 of the cacti into 1 pot nearly 2 years ago and it hasn't bloomed since. I have another one that is blooming beautifully in the same room that I had the others in, so I doubt that it is only the light conditions.

The best way I've seen to get these plants to bloom is keep them in a dimly lit room and water them sparingly. After three weeks, give them some plant food and a good watering, and place them in bright sunlight. They should bloom beautifully. Hope than helps. Maybe you can get them blooming by X-Mas or which ever holiday celebration you take part in. Happy/Merry ChristHanWanza!

Will holiday cactus bloom without any special treatment? Mine hasn't stated to do anything and were down to about 7 and a half hours of natural light daily

This year mine is blooming beautifully, although last year it didn't--the buds all fell off before it had a chance....the funny thing is I didn't do anything different with it this year.....go figure!!!!

Here's a pic of it when it first started blooming, now it's full of pink & white blooms!!!

Merry Christmas Everyone smile
I too have a holiday cactus that will not bloom this year, but I know why. Last year it fell over and broke its pot so I had to replant it. This seems to disturb the plant enough that it won't bloom this year. But it is healthy, so I will be patient. Good luck with yours. wink
