Hi Everyone!

I'm happy to have found this forum. My name is Ranee and I currently live in central Florida. We moved from the foothills of North Carolina a bit over a year ago and I simply cannot seem to get it together here so far as getting anything to grow and flourish. (OK, actually, I was just getting to the point where I could get most things to grow in NC--guess you could say I'm a recovering black thumb sufferer. ;-)

Seriously though, there are few things that give me such satisfaction as puttering in the yard with different flowers and plants (haven't done much vegetable gardening yet,) and seeing the results of my work months and years later. And it's REALLY frustrating for me that most of what I put in the ground simply withers and dies here in Florida. If there's anyone here from this area, please let me know who you are so that I can carefully watch your posts and learn from your experience. Oh--and I especially love trees and would LOVE to learn how to cultivate them well.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you and learn from you.
Blessings,
Ranee

Hi Ranee wavey
Welcome to the forum! I'm sure someone from Florida will be along to help you soon. In the meantime, perhaps you could get some pointers from your local garden center. Don't get too frustrated!

Welcome, Ranee!

What part of NC did you move from? I spent 18 years in Troy...

Ranee,
Welcome to the forum. I know you will enjoy it here.
I had 5 1/2 acres of dirt to start with and I love trees too. I started by running searches to see what types of trees do best in my area of MS. Not all of them made it here on my property (I have such awful clay soil) but I've ended up with 80+ that are thriving real well. In all my searching I know I saw quite a few beautiful trees I fell in love with that grow down in FLA but not here eek I'm sure you'll find some that will like your circumstances smile Do you have an Ag college in FLA? They always have such good info.
