Hello everyone!

I am a new member to the forum, my name is Lalo (short for Eduardo) and am so happy to have found this forum as I would love to start some seed exchange with all of you...I live in the Southern Mexican State of Yucatan. I'm a postgrad student in marine biology...though gardening has been a great hobby for me since I was a little kid...

I consider myself a true plant lover. I collect native wild seeds from flowering plants with ornamental potential. Also collect plantules from native trees and shrubs to share with my family and friends. In my previous job, I was in-charge of a major mangrove tree nursery (750 thousand plants per year!) for wetland conservation and restoration plans, back at my home State of Veracruz, Mexico...so, I sort of understand a bit more of plants than a regular novice but not really as an expert!

Well, hope this notes help to introduce myself to all of you and look forward to know more from you all!

with warm regards,

Lalo wavey

Hello Lalo - you will like it here with the many people and their willingness to help others.
trees are an important element to our well being and anyone that increases the amount of them in our world is A-OK in my book.

Hola Lalo!

We're visiting Merida in March and would like to visit some nurseries in the Yucatan. If you can share any thoughts on where to go, it would be appreciated!

Hi Lelo,
Nice to have you with us. I just read a really good artical about mangroves--really neat trees. I didn't realize how important they are. What kind of seeds are you looking to get from here? Let us know and maybe some of us can begin collecting as soon as they become available. I spend lots of time out in the woods and fields so may be able to help you out.

Hi!

Thanks a lot to you all for your warm welcome! See you in the forums as I expect to do some seed exchange this year with you! Specially from some heirloom tomato and chile seeds. I will be collecting this season some wild flower seeds from bushes and trees to share if anyone is interested let me know. I will load a list and some pics (hopefully soon!!).

Well, I hope to get some herbs as my wife, my little 6 y.o. daughter and me are starting to plant a small "pot garden" 'cause our new home does not have much of a back yard!!! frown

We are planting some cherry tomatoes and hope to get also some advice from you since we will be trying some hydroponics!!!

well, that is all from now!.

big hugs,

Lalo

Hello Lalo,
I'm glad to meet you. I'm a graduate student in clinical psychology; but I'm also very interested in evolutionary biology and conservation. I was really happy and interested to read about your work with mangroves.
Are you able to combine your love of plants with your studies in marine biology? What marine species are you studying?
