I'm very Irish through and through thus, St. Patrick's Day is a big deal in my family. While I've married a German (Love You Baby!) he's been a great sport to going out with my family each year to an Irish Pub and having a pint of green beer! muggs

Also, many indoor plants that I have are in fact shamrocks. cool Besides them, green is a must colour for the day.

Does anyone else celebrate St. Patrick's Day? And if so, what do you and/or your family do? Any traditions?

I am Irish and James is also! His family celebrates a lot more than I do. We go to the town he grew up in which is just right down the road and they have a parade that we are in because of the family being Irish. After the parade, everybody heads to the bars and that is where we stay for the night! laugh laugh It is a very busy time there and is a lot of fun! Wearing green is a must! muggs

I used to really do it up for St. Patricks day. I'd dress up in green with shamrock stickers on my face and everything, go out drinking and just have a great time. I still dress up a little bit but I don't go out drinking anymore. One of the reasons is the kids and I'm the only one in my house of Irish heritage, so basically I'm the only one that cares. I have a shamrock tattoo on my left shoulder blade, it's my good luck charm that never leaves me.

Chermoni- That is too cool! I have a shamrock tattoo on my right hip! I had it done so I would always have a part of that with me too! thumbup

Plantqueen- The parade sounds like so much fun! I wish we had something like that. My husband and I have a lot of friends that like to head out with us- tomorrow night we have about 30 people (family and friends) that are meeting up for some green beer. laugh I'm looking forward to it!

I know! Aren't the bars completely packed! We're heading to a pub early to grab something to eat. By the time we're done eating, I think we're all just heading back to my house to continue... speaking of which, I have to do my shopping tonight then. muggs

Sorry folks, my mother is Irish and my father French. I used to pay my tributes to that day, but I'm now married to a Scotsmen. And we don't celebrate St.Pattie's Day. Although we like to go to the Maxwell Highland Games in the summer. My husband used too be into powerlifting, and used to compete with other powerlifters @ the highland games. He was also once the President of the Ontario Power Lifting Association.(OPA),for short. He has also coached the disabled athletes for powerlifting.

We do not celebrate ST Patricks day because we are german and italian. It is so funny though because my daughter loves to celebrate it...I guess it is just party time for her.

Does anyone know where that river is that they turn it green on St Patricks Day?
