Sheri in September we got less than a 1/4 inch. Since then almost a trace after Thanksgiving. That lake we use to fish off those banks I walked a good 20 foot out into the lake all was dry. Those cattails used to be 10 foot from the bank . I was standing on the end of the concrete boat dock. Would have gotten more but batteries gave out on camera.

Ours is just as bad Jimmy. And for the life of me I do NOT understand these crazies that are out there shooting off fireworks KNOWING that we have a fire ban out! They have been hauling them in all day! They even had to go to the same place TWICE for fireworks! Every time the fireworks land...there ya go, another fire out of control! I have never seen contitions quite like this...

That must have been the guy I saw on the news awhile ago.
If a kid does something like that you can sorta say, "well, he didn't know any better"...but when an adult sets off fireworks when they know they aren't supposed to...well, that is just criminal.

I agree A lot of County judges have outlawed all kinds of fireworks. They ask this spineless do nothing governor here to ban them, state wide he said it is a local issue. Can't wait for election time voted against him last time will this time also. I think everyone if fed up with Rick Perry.

Here in Oklahoma it isn't any better, We have had grass fires on both sides of town but not in town yet. The volunteer Fire department has had a real workout here.

Governor. Henry was ordered a burn ban for the whole state, but he said that new years fireworks would be up to the local fire chiefs.

We haven't had any rain since Oct 1st, and are about 14" down for the year. Went out and watered today, my poor outside plants don't know it's winter.

Here's the view from my front yard today in good ole Pink, Oklahoma...

That was around 2 to 3 o'clock, we first saw the smoke about 11:00. that fire raged for at least 4 hours...we first thought that it was within a mile or so of the house, but it was actually more like 5 miles away. It was like a war zone all afternoon, with Chinook helicopters in the distance carrying huge buckets of water, and sirens roaring by on the highway.

Got up smelling smoke this morning thought it was at my door but wasn't. I have a lot of buildings between me and the nearest fires as well as DFW Airport. with all the air tankers from Arkansas as well as the national gaurd and troops from fort Hood. I got out today mowed and weed eat, raked everything in sight even my neighbors to try and lessen the chance a little and water my house and everything. City of Colleyville has offerd a rebate on water for people to keep thier lawns and yards wet. And we have a drastic water shortage. Praying for everyone in Ca. in the high waters and floods along the Russian River.

That is where you find all the famous Red dirt in Oklahoma. My in-laws live a few miles from there in Norman OK, and the dirt everywhere is Red except for his garden. There the dirt is brown. The Father in-law has added so much organic matter to his garden over the years he has changed the color of the soil.

I grilled some pork steak today, but the wife didn't want me to. She was afraid I would set the grass on fire.

I was very careful with the charcoal. I had the garden hose ready in case a spark got loose.

Good grief. Looked out to the west just now and the sun looks like the moom. The whole sky is red with dust, the local channel has gone to breaking news coverage of the wind storm and wildfires, 61 mile an hour gusts. Yeesh.

Norman...(okay, Dave)
I hope you stay safe...
(Amigatec and all that live there)
Don't be going outside and breathing that stuff..

Does it get into your house at all???

It's good you keep a sense of humor about your
weather... good way to keep you sane..
We goof around here too... and say,
"You don't like the weather here, stick around 5 minutes, it'll change, it's Western New York"
And that's the truth..
Same for blizzards.... gotta keep the ole sense of humor going and stay steady....
